Music Biography

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Irina Kalderon studied singing and piano from the age of five. She received her voice training and choir conducting degrees in the Conservatories of Sofia, Jerusalem and Luxembourg, where she specialized in the baroque repertoire, as well as in chamber music on the 20 th and 21st centuries. She is laureate of numerous masterclasses with musicians such as Maria‑Cristina Kiehr, Sandra Silvio, Sara Mingardo, Roberto Balconi, Barbara Frittoli, Sophy Pathy, Enza Ferrari, Umbero Finazzi, Gerlinde Sämann, Emmanuelle de Negri and “Les Arts Florissants”.

Irina performs regularly with her Baroque ensemble “Les Promenades” (cembalo, recorder, viola da gamba and voice) across Europe, interpreting a wide variety of Baroque repertoire. She participates in the opera productions of the CAPE and Sequenda opera studios in Luxembourg, as well as with Ensemble OrQuesta in London and the Compagnie du Globe in France, which specialise in baroque operas. She is also the conductor of the Bulgarian children choir in Luxembourg, "Kosse-Bosse".

Among her opera roles are: La fée, le Rossignol and la Bergère (L’enfant et les sortilèges), Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto), Olympia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Norina (Don Pasquale), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Calisto (La Calisto), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Drusilla (L’incornazione di Poppea). In 2026, she is scheduled to participate in “The Fairy Queen” from Purcell in France.
